Reuben Hunker’s promising career in construction started very early in life with the building of elaborate tree houses in his back yard, and building boats and go-carts in his family’s garage in Missouri. In 1970 Reuben’s family moved to Reston, Virginia where he started as a freshman at Herndon High School. During high school, Reuben traded in his amateur construction hat for a professional one, working weekends and summers in lumberyards and cabinet shops.
Reuben lives in Berryville, Virginia, is married, and is a great dad to his five children, three of whom are still at home, while two are grown and have left the nest. He loves the sport of kayaking, and often can be found paddling down the Shenandoah River.
Reuben Hunker has been working in construction for over 39 years. Reuben started out doing concrete formwork as a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters. From there, Reuben went into framing houses for the residential housing construction firm of Allen Mendelson in Maryland. And in 1982 Reuben shifted gears once more into a niche of construction he enjoys much more … working on commercial interiors. In 1996 joined the Peris team, first as a superintendent and later being promoted to project manager for our construction services side.
Also noteworthy is that Reuben has worked on several high profile and some top-secret sites, including the White House and offices for the CIA, FBI, FAA and the Pentagon.
